Jamwon-dong building is a project that carried out elevation design. Originally, this building was designed as a multi-family house, but it was changed to a neighborhood living facility according to the owner's business change. Therefore, the purpose of the project is to maintain the basic structure of the building, but to reconstruct the inner plane and to have a shape suitable for the purpose of the building through elevation design.
This building is located in an alley near Sinsa Station in Seoul and is accessible only through a narrow entrance. The owner of the building demanded an elevation plan using all bricks, and the main elevation plan idea was to apply the constructive characteristics of the brick to the elevation.
The completed building has changed some brick slope walls to zinc roofs, showing different results from the original design intention, but the open building method with gaps or the design and layout of the windows are set to express the deep weight of all bricks.
Currently, the building is used as an international fashion design school, but it is a temporary lease method, and architectural design considerations related to the defeated design were not initially reviewed.
However, the formality of the witty black mass seen in the narrow alleyways is expected to provide an eye-catching scene for the complex street scenery, and the overall design unity is expected to give homogeneity and familiarity to schools that rent and use the entire building.
